I spent 8 days in Berlin Germany a week ago and got to see a lot of the city. You can not notice any difference between the East and West of the city except for the ground bricks that were placed where the Wall once stood.
They have a bus line that allows you to hop on and off at specific points. As I was traveling on the bus and looking out the window I noticed a section of the Wall that was still standing. It was only 1/2 block long but I knew I had to photograph it. What caught my eye was the rebar that was showing through the warn away cement. It accentuated the wear and pain many people went through during the Russian occupation of East Germany.
That day was impossible to get back since I'd have to walk back two miles from Check-Point-Charlie (another landmark during the occupation) and time was getting short. Two days later I took a different route and came upon the Wall. Unfortunate for me they had a 6 foot fence around the Wall section and too small to fit my lens through the wiring. So I lifted the camera overhead and started walking and shooting the sections of interest.
The walk was not a very safe one since the fence came out to the street and cars were passing, so I stayed real close to the fence.
Here's the image I went back for.
