I've been a volunteer for almost 12 years and have seen the fire do some weird things. We are trained to stay in the burnt area because the fire can take off and run faster than a human can. Reminders are always important because even we can get caught up in the moment and forget and get in a bad spot.
I'm my dept's photographer but I usually miss the good shots because I am usually busy when I first get on scene working pumps when it is a structure fire or putting wet stuff on the red stuff when it is a grass fire. Hope I can get some good shots sometime because my service will soon come to an end. My land sold and will be moving to Vidor (hopefully).
And I doubt I will get active on a another dept.
