I noticed you said you are from the Philippines, I have a lot of friends from there and am actually planning a trip this December to visit a friends grandfathers village (not sure on exact location with the 456785678 islands :P). Any suggestions on where to go or where to stay away from. I'll be there for about 2-3 weeks.
Again beautiful images and read your post on digital assassins about using spot metering and what to look for. I'll keep this in mind next time I am out. |
Thanks Chris. Yup, I'm from the Philippines, but these street shots are taken in Singapore (my home for 4 years already). The streets you see in this thread will be very much different from what you'll be seeing in the Philippines. :)
Haha. Yea, the islands can be very confusing. Basically, the country's divided into three major groups: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Luzon and Visayas are pretty safe, especially if you'll be roaming around with friends. Just don't get too friendly-friendly with those getting eerily nice towards you or you'll end up taken advantage of. Put your wallet in your front pocket and go to places where posh people go. I think this is pretty much the rule of thumb anywhere in the globe, so yeah lol.
I'd say going southernmost (Mindanao) will also be fine, but try not to go there just to be extra sure. That's where those gun-wielding manimals take refuge. Only a minor part of Mindanao is affected and the land area is almost as big as Luzon so chances of getting face-to-face with them uglies are slim, but you're not a local so best if you avoid the place.
Cheers,
Nathan
