Our Lady of Guadalupe - 11-22-2005, 12:01 PM

Believers claim that an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patron Saint of Mexico has appeared in this South Dallas tree. The image was first noticed by the homeowner on November 19, 2005. Since then, hundreds have flocked to see the tree and to say prayers. The feast day for Our Lady of Guadalupe is December 12.

Please keep this conversation civil.. I know religion can get sensitive. I consider myself spiritual, but not religious, with a deep respect for people of faith. The cynic in me fully expected to walk up to this tree and say "ah, look, carving marks" or at least see spots where things have been recently exposed to air.. but nothing like that was there.. it looked entirely natural.

I can see it, but not sure about it as far as what it really looks like. I can see where people can impose their ideals into making the markings into a person.

I like the pic, especially the low angle. Maybe a tad more centered so we could "see" her better....

I saw a similar "holy" tree in Brownsville a few years back. But this one is much bigger (the image, not the tree). About your description/caption: Our Lady of Guadalupe is not only the Patron of Mexico, but of the Americas!

I have more, this was one of the best ones, taken from a low angle with the 24mm prime Sigma I have. This was interesting because depending on how the light hit it, the figure took on different appearances.
