The organizers hope to have 100,000 for this one-the route is the same that was taken in 2006.

This can be a great photo op and probably one of the larger ones that you could cover in the US.

Probably will have full SWAT out again and maybe a few more counter protestors this time-there were maybe less than 50 that I saw in 2006 and they were all by city hall.

Heard on the news that the Dallas police are planning on over 100,000 attending and they expect a few counterprotestors to be there (Tea party anyone?). What with all the noise coming out of Arizona and the expected crowds (one of the largest groupings in the country on the subject) here this could be a very interesting day in Dallas.

I plan to be at the Cathederal before noon and doing some early shots before the march.

I was planning to be at the arts center for the Asian fest, guess I could get two birds
if I'm early enough to find parking.

Saw on the news that the route has been changed to where they go west a short distance then head back towards I-45 then over to City Hall. So will have to find out what the final plans are I guess that day.

What time does the Asian fest start?

I'm planning on being at City Hall before most get there. Not sure if I want to go to the cathedral. The march starts at 1pm, so I'll just check that morning to see what is going on. Probably ride the motorcycle to make parking easier.

Immigration Protest... - 04-30-2010, 08:48 AM

Hey Hanky...I think I remember you from that protest. And I'm thinking I may swing downtown on May 1 to get some creative PJ shots. Could be interesting.

Organized counter-protesters are supposed to be at city hall....that's probably where I'll be at.

Well, it won't be nearly as good as the last one, but it should be fun to shoot none the less. I have a wedding Sat., so I won't be there. Just a word of caution for anyone covering this that is new to it, it can get violent at times. This one probably will not. The last one did get a little violent. Here are some images from the last one: Mega March Photo Gallery by Leslie Spurlock at pbase.com

Well radio and TV stations are talking this up and the counter protesters are being rallied by someone on KLIF talk radio.

Should be interesting, if you do go to shoot this be sure to bring water with you because there are few places to buy any downtown.

Fingers crossed, let's hope it doesn't. With the current mood and all the recent debate and publicity, the counter protest could be huge. My Plano neighbor, an immigrant from Wales is even thinking about attending the counter. Hope all are civil. All you shooters stay safe and bring back some good images.

Just got back...working on pics now. No violence that I know of, but the counter protest was pretty weak.

One so far...
