During our cruise last fall, my wife and I were unexpectedly humbled when we visited Hoonah, AK, just a week after the tiny police department lost two officers in the line of duty. I remember hearing about two officers who'd been shot shortly before we left home, but didn't catch where. The shuttle from the pier dropped us off across the street from the site where Sgt. Tony Wallace and Officer Matt Tokuoka were killed. Sgt Wallace was murdered in front of his mother and Officer Tokuoka in front of his wife and kids. We later met Chief Millan at the site later, extended our condolences and talked with him for quite a while. It was difficult to comprehend such evil and tragedy in such a beautiful setting.
