Arcadia Theatre Fire in Dallas 6 Alarm - 06-21-2006, 11:10 PM

http://www.pbase.com/demdeepellummus...fire_in_dallas They almost had it knocked out at the beginning- about 4:15 pm but then things changed fast. Crew waiting to be rotated in. Notice smoke is all white so I decided to walk around the side and back of the theatre and shops. Fire Dept had breached the door to the Bar on the south side but if you look closely the upper door has some smoke escaping through it.
Hook and Ladder truck coming in to set up on the south end of the buildings. More smoke visible from the upper door and old window frames.
All smoke is still grey/brown at this point which indicates that they are winning the battle. 2 minutes 19 seconds later the had lost the battle-heavy black smoke indicates the roof was breached-I actually could see the flames through the smoke. Waiting just north of the fire to go back in if necessary.

Well they are just about through bringing down the theatre, they were on the long back wall and the one wall on Sears when I left but it was going fast. They were using a ram on the end of a section of the crane and pushing in the walls and pushing some into the side. Started after 7:15 and were over 60% through in an hour, when they took one of the walls down to the ground it started feeding the small fire and that kicked up some smoke-autofocus hates smoke!

How bout that.........thats great man!!! Those coolers are actually for the Misters. They pump water up to the fans you see in some of the shots. Im glad to be helping out - those firefighters get so hot in the summer.......

Thanks for the info- I corrected the caption of the shot, always want to have the "correct information" when possible. I thought that they may have been additional water stations since there were so many fireman fighting this blaze. Isn't that you in the background?

Great shots.... what a shame that theatre is now gone. I would've like to cover this but I was in Grapevine and didn't have scanner with me :( I did get some shots of the textile wearhouse on Industrial and Oaklawn that I will post soon. All of the elements of story are here, nice. Bill
