Street Shots From the Protest Nov 6 - 11-15-2006, 08:47 AM

http://www.pbase.com/rangefinderrick...ovember_7_2006

I was at Reunion Arena, along with quite a few other TPF'ers, on Monday, Nov 6 for the protest when President Bush visited Dallas. I do a lot street shooting, so these are more street shots than they are documentary photos. Just some fun shots during the protest.

The next morning I drove down to Crawford to shoot people voting and then I drove into Austin. I was at Schultz's Beer Garden that night for Kinky Friedman's election party and got a few shots of Kinky. If anyone is interested, you can find a more documentary approach to the protest Monday and my shots on election day at the link above. I did not want to post any of them here because all it seems to do is cause problems because people comment on the content instead of the photos themselves. So if anyone wants to take a look at the whole series, just click on the link.

And of course the last one below is my take on the bride that showed up with a photographer to have her pictures made. They had no idea that a protest was planned for that day at Ferris Plaza. I think all of us guys and gals from TPF got some shots of her. In all my years of shooting protests, demonstrations, etc- I don't think I've ever seen a more surreal sight than a bride walking around having her picture made while a protest was going on.

I know that I sure did enjoy meeting everyone and had a great time shooting. It was a lot of fun.

Thanks Leslie. Yeah, I kind of like No.4 too. I got lucky with that one, with the lighting and color....

Yeah, I thought you got her card when we were there. Let us know David if she put them up on a website somewhere. It would be cool to see what she shot.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words about the photos.

The bride shot is the one that stands out to me... was she having a bridal done? What an interesting choice of days to schedule a bridal... never mind locations.

Yes she was having a bridal done by the fountain there by Belo, really not the best location in town, and it was early evening and with that park resessed the light was ok.

Yeah I forgot that she gave you her card David, it was funny all of us walking up with our gear to them.
