Great series Russell. I like your style from the photographic and hunting perspective. Nice to see somone actually stalking the deer instead of just sitting in a tree waiting for them to walk by. Good work.

Thanks everyone. It is always special for me when my brother and I get afield together. He's the one who introduced me to photography 17 years ago with an old Vivitar camera.

Fabulous shots and a great story. I told my husband that I would love to do something like this with him - being the avid hunter he is. The close-up shot of your brother would absolutely be a great photo for the clothing/gear manufacturer! Thanks for sharing.

Great story and images... Did anyone else "hear" the crunch of the snow or feel the chill of the air. Good stuff Russell... very good.

I see that the tree has the same "disease" that my peach tree has. About the same size too

Now, you needed some of that whitish treebark camo for that...buy it, and it'll never snow on a hunting trip again, though.

We lived for two years out behind a reservoir and state park in CO. We would quite commonly have deer in the year, and got well acquainted with their hoofprints. One of the neater things I saw when out hiking was mountain lion footprints, on two different occasions.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

That's a really great series. Being an avid hunter I appreciate it and have never seen a photo journal of a hunt like that. Keep up the good work.

That's why I don't own the snow camo.

On this trip, we were dressed in our wool duds and did a little Mohican Sneakin' to close the distance and it seems like that was camo enough.
