Post Lamar Hunt Public Services Today At Smu! - 12-16-2006, 01:27 AM

Heard on the news that there will be a public ceremony TODAY at 1PM on the SMU campus in Moody Colloseum that will be open to the general public followed by a reception at the Deadman Center that will also be open to the public.

So is anyone going to be going to this to cover it?

I would assume that if one does go to this that they should wear appropriate dress.

I am starting to think that I just may go though I will be spending some time today at the Arcadia Demolition-they are working at least today and maybe tommorrow since they are trying to get the job done ASAP.

The Services should have some big movers and shakers attending since Pappa at one time was considered the WORLDS RICHEST MAN! and the Hunt family is Legend in Texas.

I wonder what the photo restrictions will be inside of Moody, will they allow cameras in the audience if you don't have a full press pass to get into that section? (I would base the shooting set up in the seating area being non-flash). Been a while since we had a similar service in town, Stanley Marcus at the Meyerson comes to mind.

I'm going out there, have to clean up and shower been at the Arcadia Demolition site this morning and the dust was kicking up a bit.

So maybe someone else can get out there, should be some VIPs in Sports, Oil, Dallas, Texas, Ks City and other places.

Well there were around 1200-1500 at the service and another 40-50 press of all types. I was shuffled in with the rest of the press photographers, dumb butt me left my 70-200 2.8 in my pelican case in the car, so I ended up shooting with my 20-35 2.8 so no tight shots but what I hope to be some good wide shots.

Well we were allowed to shoot up to a certain point in the program and then per the families request to stop, all complied. Well after about 5 minutes the other photogs started getting antsy and one looked at the "official" who was setting right behind me and indicated that they wanted to leave and he nodded yes but gave her a be quite signal so we all got up and left leaving the reporters with their note pads. One bit of advice get a little pocket flip note pad and keep it in your kit at all times.
(I didn't mind since my batteries were acting up that I had with me so I could get to the car grab a slower lens but higher mm for outside work and be back out front in plenty of time).

Well after about 10 minutes one of the officials came out and said that we will bring some food out for you in a few minutes and then a girl comes out with fresh home made potatoe chips and ham, turkey and roast beef sandwiches and then she came back with bottles of Perieria *sp. All Complements of the Hunt Family (I believe this is what the guests were served at the Deadman Center after the service.)

So I hope to get a few pics up soon, did see some VIPs but not too many and Jerry J did fly in for the ceremony. I also may post a few here to see if anyone recognizes certain people.
