Recent story in Rangefinder Mag - 12-29-2006, 11:20 AM

I don't know how many here subscribe to Rangefinder Magazine, but an article in their December '06 issue still has me wiping tears from my eyes. The article is here: http://www.rangefindermag.com/magazi...e.taf?page=108

In a nutshell, it's the story of the body of a marine that was returned from Iraq. The PJ, Todd Heisler, followed the events from the time that the marine came home until he was laid to rest. I've gotta say that the frames that he shot are about the most powerful that I've ever seen.

Thanx for the link.

In 1968, in between my two tours in Vietnam, I served as the Survivor Assistance Officer for two soldiers. These photos brought tears of remembrance.

I was particularly struck by the wife sleeping next to her husband for the last time - - and the Marines standing guard over her. There are no fiercer loyalties than amng brothers in arms.

That is powerful photography! To learn to capture images like these is a worthy goal.

Doug:
Thank you for your service to our country. I'm glad you enjoyed the link. To me, the photos in that story are what photography is all about.

Here is a link to a more in-depth version of the article. Goes into much more detail of how they carry out the notification. It's a very good read.
