Car fire at the DQ - 01-21-2007, 04:48 PM

I shoot for the local paper as well as the volunteer fire department. Got a page this afternoon for a car fire at the Dairy Queen. I didn't have far to go. The grass you see in the shots is my backyard.

Great shots. All my calls seem to be on the other side of town from me of course its not that big of a town. I sure wish we still had our DQ.

Did you shoot these from your back porch?

Well if you have a craving for a hungerbuster you don't have far to go.

2,3,4 pretty much tell the story.

I wish we had a DQ too! Great shots - I like #2 for the intensity of the fire.

Shooting for the VFD I'm sure you know this but for the benifit of others... Never stand in front of a vehicle on fire. The front bumpers are usually attached via cylinders like shock absorbers and when they get hot they can explode sending the bumper off and if they hit you it can do some serious damage.... or death.

One time I got a page for a wildfire just down the road from me. I didn't like that too much. I was scared it was going to shift and head toward my house. We had thought a wildfire in the same area that ran a good distance in a hurry.

No, it's from the yard. It's a big yard and I had my 28-80 on at the time.

That's correct. That's why all the shots are from an angle.
