Well she did sign the form to become an Army Officer. I'm not going to get into a debate over the war. As I did my time in Desert Storm as a MARINE. So can she as an Army Officer.

It was not wrong for us to edit the post. I have asked you in the past when creating new threads such as this to edit the original release as necessary so that it doesnt come across as you being a part of the rally organizations as well as stating it is indeed a release.
This thread was reported several times from members because they thought you yourself were part of the demonstration. Nowhere in the thread did you state it was a press release so the entire thread looks as if it was written by you.
The text in the post read as follows:
" We will pass out GI Rights Hotline literature..."
"Join US at the gas station (next to 7-11)..."
Can you see how members thought you were trying to push a political agenda on them? I certainly can.
I will add the location back since that was a simple slip on my part.... for that I do apologize but when it is all said and done, I still stand by my decision to edit the thread in the first place.

I posted an email as received, as have others in this group- I listed this as a PHOTO OP- I did not say that I was going nor participating- It technically is not a PRESS RELEASE but a message recieved on a private email list which I am a member of several of to find out when these events are occuring.

You still need to edit the content so that it does not come across as your own political agenda...
If you do not want to edit them yourself, then simply do not post them... plain and simple.

People read that as though YOU will be involved and will be there participating. That is the whole reason the thread was edited in the first place....

Here is a novel idea, the members that seem to do all the bitching, how about sitting down and READING the post. I thought it was pretty obvious that it was some type of press release and not coming from DEM himself.
Not only that, but this thread has been up here for a week or so- now, because a few people don't have enough sense to READ what it says- because they interpret the message as being a statement- well, then we need to change the message. This is backwards thinking. In a word- DUMB.
Maybe some people should take a deep breath, relax, and READ what is written. Maybe that will stop them from getting their panties in a wad over pre-conceived ideas about what they think should be posted and what should not.
I don't bitch about what people post, and there is plenty to bitch about, especially in the PJ forum. But I figure Abel has enough crap to put up with without me or anyone else being the forum police.
And what is even more amazing, is that this thread never went political until Calvin posted his remark above. This has nothing to do with Calvin- it is just that the political remark still stands while editing was done on the message- what kind of wacked out thinking is this? You know the old saying- Shoot the messenger......
I post on just a couple of other photo forums- and they both have PJ sections- and I have never, ever seen the weirdness on those forums that exists on this particular PJ forum. Never. I can't figure it out.

But it wasn't a press release, it was from an opt-in email list that is targeting a specific political agenda and that is a difference. It would have been just as simple for DEM to do 30 seconds of editing of the email that was sent to HIM and then this would have been a non-issue. Seems to me that that if you want to post photo-ops that you receive as a result of an email from a group YOU are receiving opt-in emails from, the onus is on you to do the editing, no the rest of us to try to guess if it was from you or the group or you are a participant, etc....
BTW, calling people dumb doesn't help the situation much either IMO.

THIS IS THE PJ SECTION AND IF PEOPLE CAN'T READ then they are DUMB!
Actually in the original post it even says Austin activists will travel to Killeen ,Texas (see carpool info
below) where they will meet other activists from across the state to Rally For The Troops outside the gates of Fort Hood .
The topic was posted as PJ OP!
See you folks later, have fun complaining about whatever.

Uhhmm, this bulletin board isn't "the press" and as such it's content is entirely up to the discretion of Abel so put away your jack-booted imagery and climb down off your soapbox and call the Dallas Morning News and have them mention the event. I'll still bet they get to decide what goes in and what doesn't and it won't be based on what Paul thinks should go in regardless that they are really the press.
Don't get your panties in a wad, to paraphrase Rick, because you weren't smart enough to do some quick editing and you got called on it. If you had spent half as much time on a quick edit as you have on your whining about the edit that was done afterward this thread would be about ten replies shorter.....
Have a great day! | | | |

Maybe that will stop them from getting their panties in a wad over pre-conceived ideas about what they think should be posted and what should not. | If you check the first post, it was actually created Yesterday @ 08:34 AM . People did read it word for word as you wanted and that was the problem... they saw the "Us" and "We" statements in the post (that i referenced to twice already) and took it as if Paul was in on the rally. Why is it so hard to take 30 seconds to revise the post before posting it on the forum? It is not our responsibilities as mods to edit every post you make because you choose not to take the time to edit it yourself nor is it the responsibility of our members to try to read between the lines and try to guess whether or not you are involved in the event that is being announced. Why not take 30 seconds, edit it and then there is no confusion. Quote: |

We have had our rules set for our needs and for our community, that is what is important to me. That is what separates us from other forums. THIS IS THE PJ SECTION AND IF PEOPLE CAN'T READ then they are DUMB! | As I have mentioned many times over in the past, there is no such thing as free press and/or freedom of speech here on the forum. We have rules and guidelines that are set in place for a reason that need to be followed. If the rules and guidelines are not followed then threads can (and will) be edited and/or deleted altogether... plain and simple. If you do not like those terms then you are free to move on to a forum that has a policy more to your liking... This thread will now be closed...
