The wreck on I35

... In Lewisville
A tanker truck carrying ethenol in the south bound lanes turned over. Now I don't know if the car in the pic caused the crash but it was not a pretty site. Both lanes of 35E in Lewisville are closed from Fox to Justin Road. Departments as far as Irving and Coppell where to help out as well. Hasmat crews should be there by now cleaning it up.

Do you have any worries about whether or not it is legal to take these pics??? I am curious because we saw a wreck w/ a crushed jeep and a F-150 broke in 1/2. I wanted to take a photo but my wife said no it is not right. Your thoughts

The way I look at it... If it's on the news.. I can take pics. I stood right next to a cop when I took these pics and a cop let me into another restricted area to get a different angle... I knew the cop so that helped a little. The way I see it, if you want to shoot it, then shoot it. If you get kicked out, find a different spot to shoot. That's what I do.

If someone tells you to stop, then you probably should. And we can't post pictures of fatal accidents on TPF. Otherwise, use your best judgment...

I think that it is perfectly legal to take a photo of something on a public road while on a public road yourself.

That said, if a peace officer asked me to stop shooting, I would probably comply although I have every right to do so. (I'm rarely in the mood for a fight with an officer).

Now, what you with those once you take them, may or may not be legal. Editorial use is always OK methinks. You have to ask yourself is it ethical in some cases.

As far as these are concerned, I see no issues with them. Nice captions.

OK I just found out that all parties involved in the accident walked away from it... So now we got that cleared up. I went back and shot the hasmat crews. Will post up in a bit.

Keep in mind while viewing the guys in the hazmat suits that "ethanol" is ethyl alcohol, the active ingredient in beverages.
