Honor Guard Practice - 02-19-2007, 10:07 PM

I was invited out to Sheppard AFB in W-Falls last week to cover the official U.S. Air Force Honor Guard from Bolling AFB in Washington D.C., they were in town training local Honor Guard units in military funerals.

It was an amazing experience, as I'll probably never ever be able to have that kind of access during a real funeral. And I'll be honest, it gave me chills being that close even if it was a mock funeral with a stand-in family.

We were inside a basketball gym with massive windows running the length of the floor above the stands on both sides (more like an airplane hangar) It was an overcast day out, so the light was nice and even.

All shot with the Nikon D2HS and either the 17-35mm f2.8 or the 70-200mm f2.8 VR....enjoy.

Very nice, I like them, and a great story.

*Did you let them know their tire was low?*

Those are some really great shots Jason. I being a member of my Fire Dept's HG would have really loved to been able to go to that. Again great job...

Very nice pics. It snapped me back in time about 3-4 years ago when my good friend's dad passed away. He was a Vietnam vet. They wanted to bury him at Arlington National Cemetary but the family wanted him close by so he was buried in Dallas. Great pics!
