Why do you consider this to be Photojournalism? I just see some snapshots of a kid.

How does this meet definition of Photojournalism: "Photojournalism can be defined as photography intended, in conjunction with text, to convey information about a topical event or events. "

its actually part of a larger picture story about this younger boy who lives in the projects. its for a daily newspaper. i went to the location for another assignment and found this little guy and have decided to do something more than just a mugshot of a building for a business assignment.

id consider that photojournalism, but i guess they are just some snapshots of a kid.

please point me to the "snapshots" section

its a "topical event" because it will make a population of people aware of a social issue that is troubling their community.

Lance, thanks for sharing some of the story. I think that's all Stovall was looking for was the story behind it. Just consider it challenging you and please don't take it personal. I look forward to seeing more of the series you took for the paper.

Yes, I was pushing because I see too many images here where people forget that 'photojournalism' also has in it the word 'journalism.'

It's the 'journalism' part that provides context for the image. I see here two pictures of a kid jumping from something to something and it an abandon Best Western Motel. So? Why is this important? Why is it different from any of hundreds of pictures of a child jumping from something to something?

If something is going to be called 'Photojournalism' it needs text to explain why it's a topical event.

I wish people who post here would at least take the time to follow the basic AP standards for captions so we would know why it photojournalism and not just a snapshot belonging in 'General.'

I understand it was a bit vague, however I really dont see any threads that are accompanied by full AP captions. In fact your most recent PJ thread with your own photo is a photo of a flag that says "The Fabric of the Nation" and that is even more vague and less informative than what I initially posted. Maybe you should lead by example before you start calling people's hard work, "snapshots".
