Tex-Trude Plant Fire - Channelview, Tx - 11-08-2008, 09:47 PM

Fire at the Tex-Trude plastics plant, Channelview, Texas.
November 8, 2008

View from the interchange ramp at East Beltway and I-10

A Bentley stretch limo passed us on the way.

Thick black smoke billowed into the sky as firefighters tried to tame the flames.

Police had to close the roads near the plant and were routing people away from it.

A local news helicopter flies past the column of smoke.

And I got to meet Chris Stipes from Fox 26, who was there covering the story.

The smoke was still billowing into the sky as we drove home.

As the sun set, the fire was still going strong.

Thank you for looking -

nice work. Having a second very large fire closer to us (but still rather far) was the subject of some conversation at our houses yesterday; my brother works for HFD.

but it's a simple Chrysler 300 stretch, not a Bentley. Of course, since Chrysler plainly lifted many of the 300 design elements from Bentley, it is a common mis-identification.

Hey Ken,

Thanks for point that out about the limo, I see that now. I IDed the emblem while I was taking the photo and never went back to double check it.

That was definitely a large plume of smoke. I am a firefighter for Rosenberg and we saw it responding to a trailer house fire. And also the other building fire HFD had working at the same time I think.
