Cambodia – Angkor Wat & Killing Fields - 12-30-2008, 12:13 AM

Happy New Years Everyone!

Here are a few from our trip to Cambodia last week. Was a good trip and pretty much shot everything with only 2 lenses.. 10-20mm & 24-120mm. Weather was nice, but I can’t believe I’m missing all the snow in Texas!

My lesson this week is to take alkaline batteries out of your flash immediately when done… especially in warm, moist climates. In the past I have left “rechragables” inside the unit for months without issue… but when I left some Energizer alkalines in my Nikon SB-800 for only 3 weeks, I found they totally corroded and what’s worse… the flash made a very loud pop then smelled burnt when I tried to use it… before I found the corrosion of course. Guess I have another paperweight? Oh well.. been wanting one of those new SB-900!

C&C always welcome.

Nice shots. A very intriguing area of the world. Don't know if I'll ever get there so I appreciate your shots. Good dialog on the galleries.

Wow, must be nice! I've always wanted to go to Angkor Wat, but I heard the tourism is starting to ruin the place now. Too many hotels going up and such. Beautiful images!! Love 1, 4, 5 and 7!

Thanks.. yea is a great place. The tourist were much more than I expected, but apparently much less than the last few years. Guess the economic issues are helping keep the crowds down. If you go out early… and/or visit the more remote sites you’ll find yourself alone much of the time.

Definitely worth a visit if an “Indiana Jones” kinda vacation is what you crave. You can climb and explore almost anywhere without restrictions.. which was cool

Thanks for sharring. I would like to see this as well.
If you live in the DFW area there is a small version that was brought over from there and rebuilt here. Located in SW Dallas near DBC.

Great pics.

Personally I've had far less corrosion problems out of Duracell than any other battery.

Thanks for the inspiration. I may have to add this to my trip in October.

Thanks all... I have a few from Thailand and Dubai I need to post as well. It's just hard editing on the laptop.. while on the road in a 40yr old bus, or in a hotel (hut) that only has power 4 hours of the day.

More to come

Well Gene

Your images put me over the top. I've added a week in Siem Reap/Angkok Wat to my Asia trip in November. While I don't think a week will be long enough, it will be a good beginning.

Thanks for sharing.

Glad you like them.. A week should be good, we did it in 4 days but wished we had a few more. PM me if you need anything.
