Vehicle vs. Tree - 09-26-2005, 04:11 PM

And the Tree wins.....

During the calm before the storm I drove up on this accident around 3 in the morning. Hitting the tree at a high rate of speed the vehicle bounced off, spun around hit a fire hydrant and ejected the passenger driver in the weeds. Due to the nature of this event I will not be showing anymore photos but I thought I would at least show one from the event.

Did all survive? Some kids raced down a hill in my neighborhood, running a stop sign and lost control and hit a tree. None survived.

Funny you said something of this nature Abel, for 12+ years now I have just taken pictures not really knowing what I was doing was considered PJ style work, all I was doing was taking snapshots of the event to document it for court purposes. As the years went on and of course I learned more about my cameras and how to photograph the event without a snapshot feel to it as so many PJ photos has, I found that the same style rolls over to any type of photography and it has helpped me out in my wedding business. I honestly do not get much excitement out of photographing PJ style work anymore, but I have done it so long, anytime I have a chance to photograph this style it just reminds me of work, which really brings down the exciting factor. I also want to display the true story and not a rating story so many times my photos will not have the WOW feel to it since most of the time the stories in the news are never exciting in real life when actual facts are given in court.

You have a style that is the envy of many folks, myself included. I feel like arookie next to you and your work.
I was a deputy in Seguin,Tx for a couple of years and never really gave much thought to the scenes as being anything more than a court case, until now.
I do not know if it was the photo, with it's grisly conotations, or the comments made; but there was something that had an extremely sobering effect on me.
I can understand that there has to be a seperation between work and play. I do not know if I would be able to make that seperation Mike, my hat is off to you for being able to do so.
