Car Fire in my Neck of the Woods - 01-24-2009, 06:53 PM

I caught this on my way to the bank this afternoon. I thought ya'll may like to see the photos.

It is sad to see someone loose their personal property like this. Thank goodness no one was hurt. It was a busy Saturday lunch hour at the local Whataburger.

There is more on my blog at www.boldimagery.blogspot.com

Enjoy!

The last one is my favorite. The firefighters doing their job and the civilian watching in the background. Nice job!

They think electrical. Smoke was first seen under the dash. Then spread into the engine compartment.

Thank you! I use to shoot firefighters for a living, so to stumble accross the scene I knew what to do... LOL! It was like ol' times.

Great shots. I like the perspective/angle in number 2 the best. I can't believe that thing was black.

Where are the basic AP captions? There is Photo and Journalist in Photojournalist. I see the photo but not the Journalist.

You got there in time to capture some decisive moments.

A car fire I shot (for a newspaper) started electrically, too ... the guy was driving along and he started feeling a little warm. Apparently the heater in the driver's seat shorted out and sparked the fire. He got out in time, too!

Car fires happen more often then people think. I moniitor the dispatch here in San Antonio and see at least 2 a day....and that's when I'm paying attention.

I hardly ever respond to a car fire because they are over so quickly. Lucky you stumbled upon this one and got some dramatic shots. Good job.

That's why fighting a car fire is my favorite fire...quick, easy, and it doesn't demand a whole lot of energy to put out. Now, of course, I have seen some of the most impressive explosions from a car fire. When the water hits the magnesium blocks or wheels there is something to see. I have had bits of metal fly in the air, land on me, and burn a hole in my bunker coat.
