Nice, Darrell. I like the first one of the foam covered ff's, masks and all. I just hope that wasn't the truck carrying my xbox 360 repair! :)

Man.. look at all those packages that aren't gonna make it to their destination...

Great shots.. did you have a media pass that allowed you to get that close?

The red ring of death probably caused the wreck!

Great pictures!

It helps that I am a volunteer for the Forney Fire Dept. It just worked out that I was able to get some shots this time.

Tire Blowout and then truck hit the Concrete Bridge Railing and tore the fuel tank off which caused the fuel to ignite and start the fire.

The driver is fine, got out before the fire got to the cab.

I think the last two are my favorite. The first one could really be cropped tighter. Looks like one of the packages had a custom car wheel in it...

That's NOT a passenger car wheel.

It's one of the wheels off the truck.

I don't know. That was my first thought, until I studied it closer. It doesn't look like the wheels found on most ups trucks or trailers and I don't see a shred of sidewall left on it. When I said car wheel, I was using the term loosely. I figured it was a large rim, possibly for a pickup truck, looks to be an anthracite color (though it could be a shiny aluminum that got covered in junk from the fire), maybe a front wheel from part of a dually package?!?

I didn't want to exclude the idea of it being the ups truck's wheel, but it just looks a bit too fancy, considering the stamped steel wheels on the semi from the other pics.

Plus, it's laying with the other packages...

But, you may be right. I wasn't trying to give a definitive answer. Maybe there are more pics from other angles that would help us know 100% for sure? Maybe one that shows more of the semi?

It's the front passenger side wheel--the one that blew out. If you look, it has 10 lugs. And, in the second picture you can tell by the way the cab is leaning the the passenger side steer tire is gone. That is probably why there is no trace of tire left. When one of those babies goes at highway speed physics can do amazing things... Thick pieces of solid steel are no match for a scrap of tire whipping around at highway speed.

No, it's definitely NOT the front passenger wheel. Look at the two pics VERY closely, and you will see some obvious differences between the two.

***EDIT: Look in the very bottom pic and you'll see it is an inner rear wheel, but still probably not from THIS truck. I bet some fifth wheel owner lost his package of fancy dually wheels in this blaze...

I didn't mean to be snippy. Now that I looked a little closer, I realize it's not the wheel off the truck, but it's still a truck wheel. The offset gives it away.
