Stephenville Tea Party - 04-16-2009, 02:36 AM

I couldn't move around much to get different angles due to having the baby with me, but decided to try a few shots anyway. Gallery with larger sizes and some other random shots at http://kd5nrh.smugmug.com/gallery/7915657_5vvZq

Local politicians and others turned out to give speeches:

I almost left this one out when postprocessing for upload, but changed my mind. I'm not sure why, but the motion-blurred flag just looks right to me.

Interesting shots but I would crop many of them to get rid of things like lightpoles at the edge of the frame and people who don't add to what you want the scene to project.

Man, that last one would be perfect if it had something with tea party in it. Maybe if the school board said it or something.

Yeah...I didn't even look at what was on the board until later. With the community turnout, one city council member helping organize the rally, two others speaking at it, and lots of other city and county involvement, I had just assumed it would be on the sign they always use for that stuff.

Hard to do directly with an infant in a stroller. I had the 28-200 on the Minolta, which I haven't developed the film from yet. I could have swapped it onto the Sony, but I'm always reluctant to have both cameras out of action at the same time when there's potential for something big to happen.

I love the first one...don't know which is funnier, the sign, or the posed girl against the post.

I was surprised it came out at all; she caught me off guard when she started across the open space, then blended into the crowd before I could get another shot.
