I think when I started this post, I know my thoughts, I know where I was going and what I was trying to get at, but wasn't able to describe all of it on the posts. I believe some of it has been said in some of the comments. Because you do or don't show up at these rallies has nothing to do with your status of citizenship. Just as if you do or don't give money to a cause doesn't mean you do or don't care about the cause. Thus my feelings about not making any opinions about what people say ......
Mark, I think your first paragraph, is probably where I was trying to get with this..to some degree... but again,I think it is impossible to get into this on this forum and in writing, but it is nice to see it can be brought up without people getting all bent out of shape and assuming things that shouldn't be assumed. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. Uh the pictures tell the story. I was in Austin for both events and tried to shoot sets of shots that showed 99% of the crowd as it was at different times and no editing was done to PS out or add anyone in.
So look at the pics and they should indicate what was probably 90% caucasion, 2-3% black,1-2% asian, and the rest Hispanic and other racial mixes but should that matter?
Yes it was a conservative right wing group which tends to run toward caucasion followers but they were not stopping anyone or turning anyone away because they didn't meet a certain profile.
Not sure what the turn out racial mix was accrosss the country but in Texa it was vast majority cuacasion.

So... are you trying to say that only white people care about taxes???

There were several people interviewed on the news last night of various races (white, hispanic & black), but when I looked at the crowd... I SAW SMART PEOPLE!!

The protest seamed to be peaceful. No cars burning, no rocks or rubber bullets. The message I heard was for goverment to stop spending our money. Just because I earned it does not mean goverment should take it and spend it. Jaydandy added 15 Minutes and 5 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below
large group of white people with a black leader. Sounds like a golf tournament.

Why does it bother you, what was your point to prove? Just curious? Quote:

BJWangPhoto, when were you in Austin?
I think I saw you @ the rally, I tried to catch up to you..... to tell you that I like your website and find out if you moved to Austin or were you just working in Austin. Quote:

Renae,
You might consider that maybe you have a blind spot. The telling sentence is this:
"I always view things like this to see if whatever I am attending is well balanced to the world I live in..."
No one was excluded, everyone was there by choice. I don't go bowling and check out the racial balance. I don't shape my values and ideals by racial balance.
please consider that possibly you had an agenda by your topic thread, (and it was political).

Thank you Tracy for you point of view. But you don't know if I was there. You don't know if I agree with it or not. So like I said before, don't assume anything..
I still don't feel like it was political, but I am considering your thoughts. Thanks for making me think some more...that is exactly the "other side" that I like to look at.

Wow, then Renae, you really need to learn communication skills. You started the string with:
"After looking at all the photos, there is something that really bothers me...it is almost all white people..???"
An objective reasonable person would assume that it bothered you because a segment of society wasn't being represented. The word 'bother' implies a disagreement to, or judgment of.
Further you said:
"I want to be fair."
This implies that you believe something to be unfair. While you don't believe you communicated any of your leanings... in actuality you did. Just like I have made clear my leanings by reacting to your post.
I appreciate sharing of ideas. The more people write and share openly the more able we are to understand those beliefs and ideas. Doubletakes added 6 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below
Oh and btw:
"PLEASE don't turn this political..."
can be interpreted to mean 'don't dispute what I am saying or you're a judgemental extremist'.
"I don't want it to be that way..."
can be interpreted to mean: 'I am compassionate and reasonable, those who believe counter to me are not'.
(By unreasonable people who would only read false interpretation into someone's text)

This whole thread was started with a political edge to it and has no place here, IMO.

| OK, OK, .....it was just all us racist white folk. What, didn't you get the memo.
Seriously, some day we will all have a little bit of everything in us and no one will be able to tell what we are. Our great great grand kids will look back and chuckle. Then they'll only be able to talk about how great all these pics are, like we're doing. Right??? Awwwww, burning cars make such great photos. Especially combined with a nice sunset.

This thread should have been about the photos - not who was or who was not in them...since that is no longer the case, this thread is closed.... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
