Photoshop Challenge - #23 - VOTING CLOSED - Winners: Capt. Ray and simon - 10-27-2006, 06:21 PM

The PS Challenge is Back! Erin has been kind enough to let me try my hand at helping her out with a challenge or two. To get the steam going again, below is an image from my archives. The challenge information is below!

Challenge type: Client Image Challenge (see Challenge Types)
Client Requirement(s): Make this image look great for their wedding album
Challenge Begins: Oct. 27th
Voting Begins: Nov. 6th
Voting Ends: Nov. 12th
Submitters Notes: I picked this image because it is challenging, but has potential to be a great image for the client!
Image:

WINNER'S SPOILS
  • Wins the right to choose the next challenge type!
  • Gets to submit the challenge images!
  • Has the option to post their techniques after voting is closed!
  • Wins Texas-sized bragging rights!
  • Gets a ticker-tape parade through their hometown! (pending TPF budget approval)
CHALLENGE TYPES (we will grow this over time)
Here are the challenge types that the winner can pick from for the next contest:
  • Client Image Challenge: Change the original image to meet the clients needs or request. This can be as simple as changing the mood of a portrait, or making a full-blown press-ready ad image. This is what we do!
  • Image Combination Challenge: Combine up to three of five images into one final image. Make them laugh, make them cry..it's up to you!
  • Logo Challenge: Create a business, product, or ad campaign logo from the element(s) provided. Smith's Photography...Uber-Clean Cleanser...anti-jaywalking campaigns...they all need a logo!
Good luck everyone!

Does it have to stay in color, or can it be B&W?

Assuming that B&W is okay, I'll put in my submission:

Yes, full image manipulation is OK, just keep it G or PG rated. Good entries so far!

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

as luck with have it, I'm sitting down today to learn photoshop after putting it off for ages. So thought I'd give it a go. This is the second thing I've tried with PS, and I'm pretty much making it up as I go along, so bear with me.

Anyway, this isn't my usual sort of image but I thought I'd try and do something with it. The combination of low res and jpg artifacts really messed up the OOF parts of the image, I thought, but I like the colors ... so I pushed them right back, then emphasized the girl a bit. Masking like this takes a bit of getting used to. Hope my next one is a less sloppy!

My twist on the picture....

Do you ever have one of those moments where you do something and then want to redo it? I added a small twist(border and text) to the picture

It's subtle, quick, and easy using some actions I happen to have.

Hard to work with a low res image, but you get the idea.

Of course it all depends on what style you're looking for, doesn't it!
