PS #24 - PS Logo Challenge - Closed - 12-11-2006, 10:38 PM

Congratulations again to Daniel Bates on his win in the last round! He has chosen a Logo Challenge for #24.

As Daniel did not need a logo, we opened it up for nomination in the TPF business section and selected ndsimm (Nathan) as our "client" for this challenge.

Due to the Holidays and time to create a logo, this will last longer than a standard challenge.

Challenge type: Logo
Challenge (see Challenge Types)
Client Requirement(s): Create a Logo for ndsimm's photography business
Challenge Begins: Dec. 11th
Voting Begins: Jan. 2nd
Voting Ends: Jan. 10th
Submitters Notes: "I am looking for something fairly simple, either focusing on the letter "P" or on the name Photographics" To get a sense of the style the client prefers, visit their website below, and feel free to post questions for them.

Images:None

WINNER'S SPOILS
  • Wins the right to choose the next challenge type!
  • Gets to submit the challenge images!
  • Has the option to post their techniques after voting is closed!
  • Wins Texas-sized bragging rights!
  • Gets a Canon 1Ds Mark V! (all purchase funds provided by the winner)(Offer not valid after 2006)
CHALLENGE TYPES (we will grow this over time)
Here are the challenge types that the winner can pick from for the next contest:
  • Client Image Challenge: Change the original image to meet the clients needs or request. This can be as simple as changing the mood of a portrait, or making a full-blown press-ready ad image. This is what we do!
  • Image Combination Challenge: Combine between three and five images into one final image. Make them laugh, make them cry..it's up to you!
  • Logo Challenge: Create a business, product, or ad campaign logo from the element(s) provided. Smith's Photography...Uber-Clean Cleanser...anti-jaywalking campaigns...they all need a logo!
Good luck everyone!

To hopefully kick things off... - 12-22-2006, 01:03 PM

I had some time this afternoon to play around with a few variations on an idea I had for Nathan's logo.

Nathan, please tell us what you think!

I found the design for this logo to be a little difficult because of the general nature of your business...I can't go too frilly, too commercial, etc.

nice Jason, I really like the first one! the way the flowing font contrasts against the other one - "frilly" and commercial which will balance well. will that transfer to a watermark for photos as well?
sorry to be so general, but I tried specializing, but didn't want to limit my shooting opportunities

Thanks Abel!

I'm glad you like one of them Nathan! It can be turned into a watermark several ways..you can either play with opacity of that image on top of a picture, or just pull the "P" out of it and use that as your watermark for images. I would bet there are a few other options as well...

All, as this is a client-driven decision, and we are light on submissions, I am extending it through the 10th as the voting period is unnecessary at this time.

So that we can improve these in the future, what can we do to get more submissions for this PS Logo Challenge format? Is it too difficult? Bad time of year? Do logos scare everyone? Please let us know!

Thanks for extending it, Jason... I got swamped with projects, so I wasn't able to get any progress on it.

Jason,

I've been really swamped for the last two months and haven't participated in this section of TPF for awhile ... hopefully, if things settle down soon .........

Looks like Jason is our winner...

Nathan, I'll still work on the logo if you want me to... I'm still a bit swamped with work right now.

Nathan,

Sorry for the low submissions, and delay in getting back to you! I will send you the logos, and get another round started.
