Film Crawl Eye I Aye (III)

Film Crawls are about taking photography slowly and enjoying being where you are shooting and time with other photographers.


For our third Film Crawl we will be shooting in and around Navasota in the morning. Meeting up at Ruthie's for Lunch at 1230. Then continuing on to Washington on the Brazos afterwards.

( A recent scouting trip to Navisota found Ruthie's to be closed. If Ruthies is closed on the day of the meetup, we will meet at La Casita.

If weather is a problem Saturday Oct 24th we will use Sunday Oct. 25 as an alternate day. I will post confirmation primary or alternate day by 7pm Friday Oct. 23rd.

When posting your reply please let the group know where you intend to shoot in Navasota in the AM. This will give thise of us not familliar with the area ideas on where to shoot.


NOTE TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHERS: Film crawls are not restricted to those of us looney enough to still be using film. These events are more about slowing down and taking time to set up a shot. If you are a digital photographer you are very welcome to join us for a relaxed day of shooting (and drinking). Be warned; If you do show the least intrest in film photography brain washing will start immeadately.

I don't know the area around Navasota that well, can I tag alone with someone that does?

I know how to get there. I've never ventured off of Hwys 6 or 90 into town. I do know some cool stuff along a roundabout way to get there. You drive, I'll navigate. Or the reverse. I'm easy.

I be glad to drive if the weather is cool or if my wife lets me use her SUV. Like you it has been a long time since I went into the city of Navasota.

I think that we could meet in the H.E.B. parking lot at Hwy. 290 and Barker Cypress if this is okay with everyone.

I think my aparment is about in the middle. If I recall right, Lee lives off of 1960 near 290. Greg could leave his truck in my driveway and we all ride with Lee? I'm in the Villas at Huffmeister within sight of the Hwy 6 overpass at 290 and earshot of the train.

Don't know if I'll be able to make it or not. With all that is going on between now and Thanksgiving, my dance card is getting pretty full. I was originally thinking of going down to the Ballunar Festival, but the last couple of times I went down there (a few years ago), the wind usually prevented their doing too much flying. Anyway, it runs three days, so if I want to go down there, I have two other chances.

I'll make a decision sometime in the middle of next week and let you know. Right now, I'm a definite maybe, if nobody throws a monkey wrench into my plans. I'd drive my own car and follow, and of course, I have room for one or two plus gear.

Wayne's circuitous route to Navasota sounds interesting. For planning purposes, sunrise on the 24th in Navasota is 0733 hrs.

As for my catching the sunrise, no way. Ill be in from Dallas late on Friday.

I hate to be a drag, but I have a ton of chores that I need to get done this weekend. All photo related. If I work hard, I may go to The Woodlands late Saturday afternoon. Valerie, Clay Harmon, and a few other folks are meeting at an Irish Pub around 4ish or later.
