Galveston is one of the top locations for birding in the nation, and this family-friendly festival is held during the avian spring migration – the best time to visit world-renowned birding hot spots like Bolivar Flats and High Island.

There will be something for everyone at FeatherFest 2011, whether you’re a novice or experienced outdoor lover. Excursions by bus, boat or kayak will visit a variety of habitats, from beaches to bays, bay marshes to wetlands, and coastal prairies to upland wood mottes. Janice - thanks for posting this.

I just realized this is from last year. This year's dates are April 12-15th. This is the tenth year for this festival and there is a celebration that includes food, a lecture by the amazing birder/photographer Kevin Karlson and a night time access to the Moody Gardens Rainforest.

We doubled the number of photo workshops and field trips this year. Also we added two new photographers, Tim Timmis and myself, to the line up. I have been on the organizing board this year and it is looking like it is going o be a great festival once again.
