Start early, beat the Sunday crowds.

I'm not familiar with Galveston even though I've been through there a number of times. I'm thinking meeting at the following Starbucks:

Starbucks
102 Kempner
Galveston, TX 77550

Lighting is optional, you're free to bring models, but keep in mind, you have to share! :) We can all be models so we can all feel awkward in front of the lens! Dont let this scare you away!

According to TimeandDate.com the sunrise will be at 6:22am.
I might try and make it out there a little early and try and get this if anyone else wanted to.

I might try and make it for sunrise. What's a good locale on the island for sunrise?

Google Earth is free and you can adjust the hours/date to determine how the sun will rise. If you have a smartphone or tablet, you can purchase Lighttrac and it provides a bit more detail.

Google Earth will show the light/shade falling on the area, it's one of the buttons on the toolbar that looks like a clock or calendar. I forgot which one as I dont have my personal laptop at work

Looking like I will make this, and bring the wife and step son with me again. Won't have my 2 kids. I work nights 10PM to 6AM so this is extremely early for me, may need to get somebodies phone number so I can find y'all if I'm late. I don't work Saturdays but I'm a night person not morning person LOL.

I know Juneteenth can get pretty rowdy in Galveston so I looked it up, and it is from June 11th to June 18th. So the big Juneteenth crowds will not be there for this photowalk which is good! Me and the wife may get a hotel room in Galveston for Saturday night.

So did we decided whether or not this walk was going to be more geared to lighting?

I might head up there early for sunrise as well. Where is a good spot on the island for early morning light?

If you want to get some sunrises, east beach, harbor side across the harbor, or anywhere along the seawall. Ill be at east beach if I make it, off of Brodecker drive.

Just booked a room for Saturday night at South Shore Habour Inn, it close to NASA/Kemah. No decent rooms in Galveston at a good rate plus figured we can hit Kemah up Saturday before Galveston Sunday. We are really looking forward to this.

They just built a few new hotels over by me in League City and a new Holiday Inn right off I-45 between NASA Parkway and Bay Area.

Yeah there where a lot of decent places in those areas, just really nothing in Galveston unless you want to spend $200 plus a night. The one I picked out looked like the best place for the price, really nice looking.
