I'm going to try get there tomorrow, hopefully just when it's opening. I'll be the one with the camera.

I was there from 12:00 to 15:00. I was surprised how pleasant most people were. Terrible event though for automotive photography. Even at f2 and close up just couldn't get people out of the way to a pleasing degree... That and I learned I have to send in a lens for warranty.

I was late as usual...
Definitely a lot of people and random lights reflecting everywhere, not an easy recipe for great photos - but it was fun!

Nice family, Tony. Glad I got to meet them.

You're right, Garret. Yesterday was terrible photography-wise. I go almost every year, although I missed it last year, and I don't think I've ever seen the lighting so bad. Maybe it was just my imagination, but it surely seemed awfully dark in there. Couldn't shoot anything at less than ISO 400, and I had to bump up to 800 and 1600 quite a bit, which for my camera is really a stretch.

I have only myself to blame for the problem with the crowd. I had planned to be there when it opened yesterday, but I didn't drag my lazy self down there until 11-ish. (Of course, it's better to go on a week night, when it's less crowded, but I haven't done that in years.)

I first headed over to shoot the classic cars, before it really got crowded there, and then just roamed the rest of the floor. Except for the classics, I only took a few pictures of the cars that I wanted Tony to buy for me, but he wouldn't do it. I was also disappointed that there were no concept cars there this year, unless you count the hybrids. I guess the real concept cars are a thing of the past now.

There was the Scion FR-S concept, but since there is already a production model out there was no real point to it. The lighting was terrible. I was also dismayed at how far they kept everyone away from the classics and other high end cars. I won't be attending next year.

Only at this autoshow. Last concepts I remember were 3-4 years ago and were Buicks, other than the Camaro that was a body only, Vette concept that has been making the rounds. This one quickly became like the dealers were just rolling in cars.

That's par for the course there. Those classics are worth a buck or two. They seemed to have them crowded together more than in past years too, and they really made me mad with the Sunliner and '57 Chevy stuck in the middle, where we couldn't get a cleaner shot of them.

I'll probably keep going, though. It's kinda become one of my annual events. At least I got to get my picture taken with Heidi Van Horne.

You're right, Keith! One giant commercial! At least they're all in one place, though. Keeps us from having to troll the freeways.

I love cars and have been pretty much every year since it restarted at Relient, and even I skipped this year.
