As noted above...it'd be my first time heading out to the meet. Is it a faux pas to bring your camera? I've got a D700 arriving next Friday and wondered if it'd be alright to take it with. :)

Sure, I'd have no problems passing it around, as long as I got to meet whomever wanted to fiddle with it. Great way to make friends! As far as drooling on it...it's pretty well sealed from what I read, so that's no problem.
