Beaumont: Painting with Light Project: 12-16-2008 06:00 PM - 07:30 PM

[Hello everybody. If this is in the wrong place, please advise and feel free to move.]

My 2nd year West Brook HS photography students (most of which are TPF members...albeit pretty silent so far having just been introduced to TPF this school year) will be conducting a night time painting with light project on Dec 11, 2008. The meeting will be at Klein Park, Beaumont, Tx on Major Drive (FM 364) near Tram Rd. The time is 6:00 pm.

If you in the SETexas area and want to come on out, please feel free to join in on the fun. Or, if you have any suggestion or helpful tips, feel free to pipe in. I have held this even for many years...long before the Sprint commercials...but they have help inspire new life into our efforts. Not sure how fancy of shooting we will pull of this year...but we got some pretty good shots last year from some individual efforts.

So, if you can make it, bring your flashes, flashlights, lasers, etc. and come on out.

What's it about? Have any example photos from previous years?

Well, long before the Sprint Commercials, I held a night meeting for the students to experiment with different things, like long exposures and multiple flashes, flashlights, lasers, candles. You know, basically painting with light...long exposures...and you run around in the exposure painting the scene with light. You take a flash and or flash light and paint a scene, splashing light just where you want it. Or, like in the Sprint commercials, draw out objects. Lots of options. Here is a quick page I threw together last year to help the students know what we were trying to do. The page needs more samples, but so does everything. ;)

Last year was one of the best years so far...with help coming from the insight from the Sprint commercials, specifically the making of the commercials that I showed them prior to the meeting.
