Photoshop PS4 Extended Upsell - 05-18-2009, 06:16 PM

Amazon and Newegg Photoshop Extended PS4 Upsell for approx.$336.00. Has anyone tried this version? I called Adobe sales and asked about it and the salesman just said "Buyer Beware" if buying from sources with a price over half off what Adobe sells it to retailers for. What are your thoughts?

Do you have a link to this 'deal'?
I don't know what "Upsell" means, and the proper edition would be CS4 not PS4.

I think what you're referring to is an upgrade to CS4 extended edition from a licensed version of CS3 standard edition.

You are correct it should be CS4. Here is the link to the sale on Amazon.

I was correct. In order to use this version, you must own a previous version of Photoshop standard. You will have to provide a valid serial number (that hasn't been upgraded or distributed to the warez world) to install the software. As a comparison, the regular upgrade from standard Photoshop to CS4 is $199. List price for this upgrade/upsell is $350, so it's not a 'great' deal.

Good luck.

When I first looked at Amazon's or Newegg's webpage I noticed I could upgrade from Adobe Elements (This has now been removed). I discussed this with Adobe tech support and they confirmed it. That is when I talked to Adobe sales and was told the "Buyer Beware" story. I am confused now and not sure if I should purchase the "Upsell" version.

There is an upgrade path from elements, but this one won't do it. Listen to Adobe sales. Typically this upgrade must be purchased directly from Adobe and isn't an 'off the shelf' product. I did this several years ago when I switched from PC to Mac and PS E to PS CS.

FWIW...If you are upgrading from PSE to CS4, the better route to go is IF you have a student or a teacher in your house (K-12) of College (with some restrictions), you can get the full CS4 Extended via the Adobe Educational store for like 299.00.

I appreciate the words of advice. I would not like to purchase this software then find out I could not get the license from Adobe to allow me use it.

Not sure if anyone knows, but I was wanting to upgrade from cs4 to cs4 extended, as this upgrade path is not available. But from 2 builds back of PS, you can upgrade at a significantly lower cost than paying for a full vers.

I wish I was a student so I could take advantage of the discounted price but I finished school many eons ago. I am and have been retired several years. I took up photography last year and want to learn Photoshop as well.
