Photo check on Aisle 1 - 05-18-2009, 09:09 PM

Hey everyone, maybe it's the academic year winding down, maybe its that I really don't want to screw this one up, but I just can't seem to get the skin tones down on this one.

For ref, I shot this with maybe 5-7 minutes time, I had setup strobes (2x 400w/s head, bounced off of the ceiling) and the lighting crew cranked up the stage lights, the latter being very unexpected and throwing off my exposure calculated before hand.

I have a feeling that it's due to the nasty mix of color temp (flash vs. tungsten), and every time I shift it in the red, it feels sunburnt. Shift back in the yellows, they look seasick. Help, please!

Two problems...

1) Your profile says that "Others" CAN NOT edit your posted pictures...
2) If you want someone to try and correct the color, you might want to provide a link to the original (a larger size, pixel wise). Trying to color correct a photo that small isn't going to do much good.

I was just looking for a quick "well it looks a bit heavy on the red" or "maybe too much yellow..." etc.

I have a feeling that I don't learn well when others do something for me, but when they tell me what they are thinking and I play with it along the way.

Thanks for the help.

I have an untrained eye, and probably dont know what I'm talking about, but I like the first one better. The second looks to bright.

If this is a Raw file you should be able to open it in ACR and use the white balance eyedropper on a white shirt and get pretty close.

Thanks! I WB to the shirts but there was a mix of tungsten + flash, I ended up doing multiple layers, one for the left side of folks, one for the right, and one for the ambient areas. The tungsten light over-warmed the skin tones and the flash made the ambient (walls, stage) too cool.

Here's how the final product looks, hoping to get the canvas by next Thurs.

OT: If you check out the EXIF, it shows 1/80 @ f/9. I guess the shutter was too slow due to ambient bleeding through but want to go past ISO500 and needed the depth of field for the group.
