I just got LightRoom 2 (didn't have the original). I had hesitated on buying it, thinking that I didn't need it if I used Photoshop CS3, but man, am I glad I got it. I see a whole new way to streamline my processing, although I am really just learning to use it now.

Been using LR for a couple of years now. LR2 is what LR1 should have been. I spend most of my time in LR, moving to PS only for finishing touches and framing. My favorite feature in LR? Image cataloging. It's great. I'm so organized, it's sickening. LOL

I was a die hard Bridge/ACR fan! CS2 & CS3 Bridge/ACR were painfully slow, but at the time it was my only option.

After trying LR 1.3, I was very hesitant about making the switch only because I was so comfortable using Bridge/ACR. It took me 3 months to finally get the hang of LR and iron out my workflow. Soon after, I made a complete swtich to LR. I haven't looked back since!

So do you all use it in place of Photoshop for post production of your photos or just as a way of cataloging or organizing photos?

I use LR2 for primary catalog-ing and presets for initial adjustments (vignette, camera profile, etc) then use PS3, through LR, for major adjustments like; cloning, skin, replace sky, etc. All of it works seamlessly.

I use it in unison with PS3. I do as much as possible in LR first, then move to PS3 for final edits, things LR won't do, and/or just framing for web presentation.

For me LR2 does 90-95% of what I need. Quick easy streamline accept and reject functions for culling large batches of photos, all the cropping, WB correction, saturations etc. Then after I'm satistfied with the colors and crops, I can use PS for photo manipulation (clone, liquify, dodge, burn etc). I was amazed at how much it streamlined the process for me.

Ditto!

But I use CS4 for other reason like creating posters, trading cards, flyers......

I edit and finish 99% of my images in Lightroom. Most never even see photoshop.
