I've been seeing stuff about this program for a while, so I decided to try it out since it was on sale for $35 this week. It is a blast to play with. It converts your photo to a painting and you can choose Monet, watercolor, etc and then tweak the settings to get what you want or just let it run which is what I'm mostly doing.
Some before and after results below.
If anyone else has it or decides to try it out (free version available that just puts some text at the bottom), post your results here. I'd like to see what others can do with it.
Tulips Before
Tulips After with Monet Style
Black-eyed Susan Before
Black-eyed Susan After with Benson style
Cosmos flower Before
Cosmos flower After with Camille style
Katy Prairie Before
Katy Prairie After with Chalk style
Fun Stuff!

Thanks Janice and Renae. I've been having fun with it. Some folks have used it on portraits and it really looks great. I'll see if I can dredge one up, but the paintings are only as good as the photos, so any portrait I took will be lame to start with.

Robert, I sent them an email to find out if they are working on a MAC version. This is something I've been looking for, as a plug-in to Apple/Aperture program. I'll let you know what they say.
Renae, you'd be surprised how good effects like this looks on people.

Robert, Thanks. I hope they get a Mac version soon. I can't believe they don't have one since I though most people that did graphics type work used Macs.
Angelo, Thanks for checking. I look forward to hearing what they say. I have been tempted to go Mac.
Angel, Thanks so much for the kind words. Quote:

Janice, Well done! Glad you did a person 'cause I couldn't find anything worth processing. That really looks great. Love the bright colors in the tomatoes and peppers.
Robert, So, you have a PC lurking in the wings... You picked some great photos for the technique too. The first two with all the bright colors look great. I wouldn't have thought to do a B&W, but the bride photo is awesome. I would think that something like this could be faded a bit and used for the title slide of a slide show.
Thanks to both of you for posting your shots. Now I have more ideas of what to try!
EDIT to Add:
One thing I have been doing is saving the DAP photo and then in Photoshop, I copy it and paste it on top of the original. Then I change the opacity of the DAP layer until I get a blend of the original and the DAP. Sometimes I put a mask on the DAP layer and paint even more out for something where I want more detail. You can use a mask in the software, but I haven't tried that yet. I probably need to since it might save me some time.

Hey Patti, If I sent you a photo would you try a portrait...I'd be curious to see what it looks like? Plus it would be free advertising for them. I'd try the free version, but that takes time...something I don't have...on that note, I think round the year school is a great idea!!! : ) not. really...just takes me some time to get used to all this NOISE!!!!!!

Just send it to paedens at comcast.net with the appropriate symbol in place of the spaces and at. I'll post the results here if that's okay with you.

These are some different renditions using Renae's beautiful portrait photo... I like Camille the best, but I don't like any of them as well as the original.
In most cases I blended the original back in to tone it down some and in some I masked out the face and blended it way back... Otherwise, I just used the presets with each style.
Original
Benson Style
Camille Style
Cezanne Style
Chalk Style
Monet Style
Many thanks to Renae for letting me play with this wonderful photograph.

Patti
