How do you do texture? - 06-27-2009, 12:34 AM

Here is my first time fooling around with texture. I opened two images, one is the regular image and one texture image. I dragged the texture image on top of the texture image, and then adjust fill and opacity to the taste, merged the layers and generate file for web.

How do you do your? I like to learn how other do this. Here is the final result.

What I usually do is put the texture on top of the image and with the texture image selected scroll thru the layer types in the layers pallet, they all produce different looks, I tend to use soft light most. I also loosely laso the flesh on the texture layer and Gaussian blur some (it lessens the texture effect on that area) then add a layer mask adjust opacity and brush some of the texture off.

When I am at new places or on vacation I am always looking for textures. I take the photos and save them in a folder called texture and then I just use them as an extra layer whith opacity between 15-30 percent. The important thing to remember is to not let the texture take over the photo.

Hi Clark, That information was handy. Would you be able to share one or two textures which you have taken. It would help to get a better feel and understanding of how to take texture pics.

Thanks
Shrikant

You did well with the texture, I dont think there is just one perfect way of doing it but the process is all similar. It is a matter of playing with settings and finding something that looks good.

When I add texture i overlay the texture on top then change the blend modes and sometimes i take the eraser and brush away on the areas that I want to be my focal point..

but it all depends on what you want and what looks good.

Still great work.
