Need HELP PLEASE - 07-07-2009, 08:20 PM

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME,

Ok, I have never done this type of processing before and this could be a HUGE deal breaker in a Wedding Package my client is looking at so I need any assistance anyone can possibly provide.

In my wedding package the client wants a 16x20 from the Formal Bridal Portrait, but she is looking to have the portrait "LOOK" like it was painted.

Anyone out there ever tried this and if so is there an action out there that I can either BUY or get that would do this?

Anyone have any examaples I could possibly look at?

The reason she wants this painted look is becuase when she got married her portrait looks "Painted" and she wants her Daughters to be somewhat the same but in more "Modern Times" as she was married some years ago.

If anyone can possibly help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Stephen Gibson

I have no idea how they look (I've never ordered, or even seen one), but Simply Canvas offers digital painting services on their canvases.

You could try DAP software. It converts a photo into a painting.

See more in this thread. Toward the bottom I did one of a portrait. I usually blend the results of the program back with the original file until I get something that has a painterly look to it, but is still realistic looking.

There is a company that actually prints your file, then paints over it. It's as real as you can get. They advertise in various photo mags. If I can find a copy (now that I've purged magazines), I'll update this post.

http://www.canvasondemand.com/canvas-sizes.asp is what I was trying to recall.

I just got a COD's 'freebie' canvas... and boy howdie was it nice! I had ordered a canvas from a local guy - and there was NO comparison. COD is quality work.

I got a Canvas on Demand Freebie demo too but was rather disappointed. It had several areas where the printed pigment had already flaked off the gesso when I unpacked it. The canvas is a smooth texture that almost feels like vinyl. All in all, I'd go with Millers / MPIX for gallery wraps; their quality is far and away better than COD's.

Brad, that's great, especially considering you were working with the web-sized image!

Ok Brad, Please tell me how you accomplished this? I downloaded a trial size of your recommended product and got NO WHERE CLOSE to this.

The image in question is a web version anyway and I know I have the full rez file on a CD here somewhere. But I would love to know the steps you took if you used the Simplify Plugin to get this result.

HMM HMM Inquiring minds wanna know

Thanks again,

Stephen Gibson
