Are you sure the message said 'Internet Explorer'? Could it have said 'Windows Explorer'? They are two different programs.
I run into this problem all the time when there are many users on a network. Windows will allow different users to see images but not edit them, especially on a network. The image you are trying to save was locked by another user or username. Both users may be you the same person, but from the computers viewpoint you are not the user that put down the original file, so it will not give you permission to edit it.
Close PS. Open Windows Explorer program; hold down the Windows key and press the 'E' key. This will bring up the program. Navigate to the folder where the original file is located. When you see the file in the right window, Right-Click the file, Click Properties. Under the General Tab uncheck the Read Only box beside the attributes indicator. You should be good to go. You can do the same thing with multiple files. Select multiple files in the right window, Right-Click, the highlighted files and click properties. Uncheck the Read Only box and they are all now ready to be abused by anyone.
In the future you can use 'Save As" instead of save. Rename the file and it will let you save the file under a different name, no matter who saved the original file. |
