Lightroom and Networks ????? - 07-21-2009, 02:12 PM

Has Anyone here had experience with loading and using Lightroom on a LAN? My Boss at the dayjob thought LR would be the solution to our Photo filing, but when we went to load it to access the network drive for the images, Came up with error message saying it couldnt access that drive.
I have looked on all the websites I can find including Adobe and have not seen anyone even addressing this as a question or problem so I am not sure if it is just our IT people (who dont deal with image files as a rule) or if it is something we are doing.

ANY help would be appreciated.

Lightroom is written as a single-user app. It does not have any of the locking required in a multi-user environment. Because of that, it was written to refuse to open a catalog on a networked drive.

Thanks Bill. In a nutshell that is what we needed to know.

yeah the catalog is only able to be stored on the local hard drives. We just had a BIG three day discussion about this very issue at the Association of Texas Photography Instructors workshop.
