Calling all Lightroom Gurus - 07-27-2009, 09:14 PM

Simple request. Maybe I just don't get, but all I want to do is save/export images out of Lightroom at a constant 1600/1000 resolution. This is a non-standard size, i.e. 4x3. I have tried specifying 1600x1000 in the export function for height and width to no avail. I want the final product to be exactly 1600x1000.

Any help is appreciated.

Terry

Are you cropping them to 4x3 before you export?

I know its a basic question but one that makes all the difference.

Probably, not sure. I've tried so many different things I've lost my place in what I'm trying to do. I'll try anything to wind up with a 1600x1000 image. I even went into the crop tool and created a "Custom" crop size. I believe it was 5.33x3.0. Came up with 1599xsomething. Don't remember.

Any suggestions?

Terry

If the originals are not in that ratio it will not crop/shrink the picture.

Terry, I'm certainly not a guru, but I just tried it and think I found the formula you need. I cropped using custom setting to a 4.0 to 2.5 ratio. Then exported with the resize setting set to 1600 x 1000, seemed to work.

Don

Great minds think alike. I just tried it myself before reading your message and got the same results as you. Thanks for taking the time to help.

how did you guys figure out that the 4.0 to 2.5 ratio equaled 1600x1000?

Math

1600x1000
16x10
8x5 (This is the ratio I'd have used)
4x2.5

Also just thought about it Terry. You could have just put 1600 x 1000 in as a custom ratio.

I thought I tried that Ken and it wouldn't accept it. I'll try again tonight. Problem solved though.

THANKS!
