Why does my CS 3 keep crashing!!! Just when I'm about done editing these dang baby photos from NILMDTS which require way too much editing...I get the pop up that says, it needs to shut down, do you want to send a report...NO!!! I don't want it to shut down, and NO I don't want to send a report into infinity where no one really cares anyway!!!!!

Trash the Preferences file, and let PS rebuild it upon restart. That helps a lot of times.

LOL Sorry.
Delete the preferences folder. (Sometimes the contents of the folder become corrupted, causing PS to act erratically.) PS will rebuild it upon restarting the program. You might have to reset some of your personal preferences.
Find folder named Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings. Delete it. Restart PS.

Isn't there a key combination to hold down while starting photoshop that resets it?

I had three failures on the 18th and I too was working on NILMDTS! As soon as i open the file i save it then every time I create a new layer I hit save. There is just too much work on some of these to have to do over.

I had the same problem for a while, and it happened right after I had done an update to Vista. A further update from Microsoft seems to have taken care of the problem. You might want to run Windows Update to see if you have all of the patches/fixes that are available for your machine. You'll probably want to see if there are any further updates available for Photoshop from Adobe.

Hey Renae. Don't feel lonesome. I think that I'm in the pre-school level and this is after having CS3 for 18mos. It drives me crazy. I've got several books of instructions that tell me if I do that, I'll get this, and it never works. I'm currently trying to record an action and I've followed the directions of several books and, so far, no luck.

Sounds like the directories you are looking for are hidden you need to unhide them first, then go look for them should be there...
You are using XP or Vista or 7?

So on your xp machine, click on My Computer, then Tools up on the top, Folder Options, Click on the View Tab, Under Hidden Files and Folders there is an option, Do not show hidden files and folders, and Show hidden files and folders, chose Show hidden files and folders, also uncheck the option below that Hide protected Operating system files.
You may get a propmt asking if you are sure, click yes I am sure.
then ok and you can close that out.
Now go back to C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3 and see if you can find that preferences folder. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
