picasaweb replacement? - 08-23-2009, 05:13 PM

Does anyone use picasaweb? I take LOTS of pictures of my kids soccer teams and upload them for easy full-size downloads by the parents. I've used it for years with good success.

However, they seem to be using something new to display the 'previews' of each picture that is dulling the colors and making the pictures look terrible. If you view the slideshow they look fine, but some of the more computer-illiterate parents won't be able to negotiate back & forth to view/download.

Since I'm not charging for the pictures I hate to have to pay for a service. Can anyone recommend any other free solution that would serve my purposes?

I tried picasa but ditched it quickly. I use smugmug and I am completly happy with it. Yes it is a pay service and you can decide what level you want to have. For what your doing it will cost $39.95 for a year's service. It's well worth it. If you enter my email address ( lemii@sbcglobal.net ) as a referal you will save $5 so your cost is $34.95 Most other free sites will only keep the images as long as you order prints of them with in a certain period of time.
