Lightroom 2 instruction in Houston? - 08-24-2009, 10:11 PM

I'm curious to see if anyone knows anyone that is really familiar with Lightroom 2 in Houston that teaches or does workshops on the software ... Or might be interested in doing one (i'd pay)

I am new to lightroom2 and learn by doing, not by reading. I've tried reading the Adobe Classroom book to help, but am just frustrated. What I thought would be intuitive has turned out to be a massive headache . . .

Help???

what part of town are you in? LR is not that difficult to use - if you are in an area where tpf does the monthly get togethers, i'm sure someone could show you the basics and a little beyond..

I've been looking for some classroom instruction too, but most seems to focus on CS4.

I am about halfway through this book/CDROM combo and it's been very helpful.

Thanks - I joined the group. Where do they usually hold these meetups? There's no info on the location.

I have the classroom in a book book . . . but I'm not finding it helpful for me . . . I'll admit that I didn't go through the lessons, but just referenced the book for questions.

I have to say that I consider myself a fairly smart, intuitive person and it doesn't work exactly how one might think.

I'm good with doing all the editing to pictures. What's got me stumped is I think I've made some catalog error and can't seem to figure out how to download my pics to a CD.

thanks for the information folks!

Sorry to hear about the cataloguing issues. It is covered pretty good in the first chapter or two. I tried messing around without following the lessons too and had to go back and work through the exercises. It's kinda tedious, but it is beneficial.

I was afraid of that . . . I HATE doing that sorta stuff, but guess I must . .. Unless there is any soul out there that doesn't mind teaching this stuff to an eager learner :) I don't know if there is anyone out there in the Galleria area interested . ..??

I checked into the meetup group and am interested in coming, but not sure where the meeting is.

What makes you think you have a catalogue problem? what's your symptoms?

I haven't tried exporting directly to a CD, but if if I get a chance tonight or tomorrow, I'll give it a go. I've usually created a collection, then exported it to my hard drive in the format/size I wanted, then used my regular DVD burning software to create the disk...

You might look at this tutorial for importing/setting up a catalogue:

There are several modules on exporting and outputting here:

EDIT:

Here's is info on exporting to CD/DVD - Apparently you can't do it if you have 64bit Windows...but read all the way down - it may be resolved in a LR update...
