DVD Slideshow and music copyright. - 09-10-2009, 01:51 PM

Hi there,

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Can I produce a DVD sideshow and use music that my client owns and provides using the original CD without breaking any copyright laws?

Many thanks

Tony

unless you have permission from the artist/publishing company for re-use in a commercial product capacity (you are making a commercial product for your client, even though it may be personal to them).

What also comes into play is what are they doing with the DVD? Reproduction, sales, public display at a conference or local meeting...

slippery slope unless the client happens to own 100% of the rights to the music, the performace of that music, the song, lyrics, and publishing...

Thanks Greg, wasn't 100% sure if that would be a work around the whole copyright thing.

A client can put the music to the pictures for personal use if they have permission from the photographer.
