Can this be salvaged using PS? - 09-16-2009, 08:17 PM

I like this shot, except for the bad lighting and shadows on her face (and her expression but that's not gonna be fixed lol).
Is there any way to save this from the crappy shadows?
We just happened to be driving, found this field w/a windmill and decided to take a shot or two.

I would say yes, it looks a bit blurry...

Using Photoshops Elements 7
Opened in Camera Raw - Adjusted white balance / temperature, exposure, recovery, bumped up the clarity, and vibrance

Adjusted levels and some unsharp mask, 90, 1, 2

I tried too. Sharpened the edges and tried to lighten the shadows on the face.

Sorry to say I am going to have to agree. The adjustments made to it make it look even more purple/blue and it is really out of focus.

Here's my attempt: (it was hard to work with, because I only had the web-sized version; I'm sure I could do a lot better with the original....)

ETA: Okay, that is NOT what it looks like on my computer!!!! Who poured acid on it???

I tried, but got nothing worth posting here. Don't worry about trying to fix it. It is a good creative shot... everything does not have to be perfect to be worth keeping. If you like the shot... that is all that matters.

It depends on what you consider salvaged, but here's my three minute attempt.
