Question Photoshop Question - 09-20-2009, 06:06 AM

I am being asked to add a person to a group photo I took last month. No copyright issues. I'm pretty sure I can do this in PS but i don't have a clue how to begin. Anyone else ever have to do this? Oh yeah - I use CS4 and LR2.

To answer your question, I would have to see your project - both images.

Would definitely have to see the images, but I did something like this for a newspaper article a few months back.

As long as the lighting from both images are the same (or pretty close), and the total image size of the subjects within your frame are the same you won't have a problem. Open both images at the same time side by side. Then the image you want to add, click on your pointer then drag that image over the top of it's new home image. You will now have two layers. You can change the opacity so you can see the general area where you want to put the new guy and move him around. Now use your eraser and delete everything out of the picture of the new guy layer that you don't want covering up the old image. You can even add a solid layer of white between the two layers so you make sure you get all the unnecessary background stuff out from around the new guy. Then delete the solid layer image. Take you pointer make sure you on the new guy layer and move him into position. Zoom in to make sure he fits where you want so you can delete areas of him so he looks like he's standing in back or what have you. You can adjust the contrast, brightness, etc. to just this layer to tweak it to look like the other picture. Once all is said & done, merge the layers and save your image.

Once I mastered Layers, my world was completely blown away!!! Good luck.

Thanks to all. I may actually get out of having to do this, but Jennifer, I am going to try your instructions. I need to know how to do this anyway. Thanks again to all.
