setting a profile in RAW - 09-26-2009, 09:24 PM

OK, when I open a pic from Bridge, I seem to find myself changing the same settings, especially when I am shooting in the studio. Is there a way to set a profile in RAW that I can use a function key to make those adjustments? or can I program it to open using certain settings?

Open an image in Camera RAW. Make your desired settings, that you want to have as your new defaults. From the little drop-down menu on the upper right, choose 'Save New Camera RAW Defaults". Then click Done. Now any raw file you open from that camera model will use your preferred settings by default instead of the oroginal Camera RAW defaults.

If you don't want to change the global defaults for a camera, but still want to create presets to use with groups of photos, you can do that as well. From the same drop-down menu in Camera RAW, choose "Save Settings", check off the settings you want to save (it doesn't have to be all of them), and give it a name. Then, from Bridge you can right-click one or more files, and on the context menu under "Develop Settings" you should see your preset available. Just click on it and the selected images will get assigned the specified settings.
