Working on my PP, CC very welcome.... - 10-02-2009, 07:55 PM

I have been working on my PP skills, trying to move them up a notch. To that end, I took a so-so photo and tried to make it as good as I could. I know the photo has issues, what I am interested in is how well have I done with PP? Is there more that I could have done? Did I over do anything?

Any CC appreciated as long as it at least gives me an idea of where to go from here. Thanks!

I would adjust the contrast and lighten the face a little.
I would show you but you say no edits

Allan,

I would work on the pose, lighting, etc. first. Reflectors. Fill flash in tiny amounts. more flattering pose. More flattering camera position and composition. Fix it first. P.P. won't be needed.

Get a copy of Cowboy Kate and Other Stories by Sam Haskins. Sam knows what to do with pretty women and cameras.

Thanks Wayne, but I intentionally picked a reject pic to see how far I could bring it back using PP. That is why I started the thread with "I know the photo has issues". If the lighting etc was all good, then I would never know how far I can push PP.

Ok, then here is one I played with. I have limitation since it is a low res file but I think you will get the idea. I added contrast to the background and lightened her face.

Here is something that I do that in some circumstances really comes in handy.
I stole some color from her side where you can get a larger portion and cloned to to the washed out area.
It might not be something you would want to do often but it can sure save a picture every now and then.
Oh yeah and it's a good way to get rid of a strap line.

OK, I tried to incorporate all the suggestions (and one from another forum) and here is what happened. I lightened her face, removed the strap hanging from her back, added a little contrast, and tried to fix some of the blown out area on her chest. Let me know how I did.
