Canon 50d and Lightroom whitebalance - 10-07-2009, 12:50 AM

Does anyone here have a 50d and use lightroom to process their files?

My progression of cameras has been the 20d, the 40d and now the 50d (still have the 40d)

I shoot primarily with the white balance set to Kelvin Temperature and dial it up or down depending on the light source. When Shooting daylight I default to 5200 on the dial.

ACR (adobe camera raw) has read the files from the various cameras the following ways:
20d - 5000k and 0 magenta/green bias
40d - 5000k and +2 magenta/green bias
50d - 5100k and a whopping +20 magenta bias

does anyone know why ACR and consequently Lightroom would be reading a magenta bias like that on a dialed in white balance?

ACR defaults do not change anything, and I have looked to make certain that there is not any bias dialed in on the custom color balance option in the menu. does anyone have any other pointers?

I do not use lightroom and do not know if this will help but .. I have a 5D and shoot a grey card and set to custom white balance. Every once in a while I will warm a little, especially with pale children. Works for me.

I appreciate the tip, and I do occasionally shoot with a grey card, but more often either the lights are a constant shift (such as stadium lights) or they are consistent and should be predictable (like using strobes) It is not hard to correct by using the sync feature, but it is a step I would rather avoid if possible.
