I need to paint or somehow fix her hair back to normal dark brown.

Does anyone have a tutorial or can point me in the right direction?

Start over with the original file and select only the face for retouching.

Sorry, I should say that her roots were showing, and I need a way to paint over the lighter parts to make them darker to match the roots.

I'd use Photoshop, create a new color adjustment layer, play with the color pallete till you get the desired darker color for just the brighter part of her hair, then create a mask on the new layer, invert the mask to reveal the original layer, start brushing on the mask to show the darker hair on the new adjustment layer created earlier.

Does that sound confusing? :) hopefully someone can come up with a simpler method, or can explain what I mean better. I just suck at providing instructions.

Hi there. I don't know if this is anything like what you were shooting for, but if it is, please respond. There were other small details that I worked with that I know many women would want touched up on a formal portrait. Didn't mean to overstep, but we are retouchers and I just could not help myself. - RJS
